The Art of Fragrance Layering
How the world's most sophisticated wearers build a signature scent
July 2026 · 6 min read
Fragrance layering is the haute couture of personal scent — an art practised by connoisseurs to create something entirely their own. We explore the principles of building depth.
Layering is not about wearing more fragrance. It is about building depth — creating a scent profile that evolves uniquely on your skin.
Start with a clean base. Apply your foundation fragrance to pulse points. Allow it to settle for several minutes before introducing a complementary layer.
The Biris approach: pair a fresh citrus opening with a woody or amber base. Contrast, don't duplicate. Let each layer speak before the next arrives.
Our curators recommend beginning with lighter concentrations — an Eau de Parfum base, an extrait accent — never the reverse.
